There is no single therapeutic approach
that works for everyone.
Since “talk therapy” isn't always enough, my
approach is a holistic one that
integrates both traditional and
nontraditional psychotherapy. My work
embraces the whole person
- body, mind and spirit.
Depending on your unique needs, I may draw
from: EMDR therapy, contemporary couples
counseling, body centered therapy and
transpersonal psychology. In addition, I utilize marriage and family therapy,
guided imagery, Hakomi Therapy, personal coaching, journaling and various meditation
practices.
My holistic approach is strongly influenced
by humanistic psychology, New Thought,
contemplative psychotherapy and the practices of
various spiritual traditions.
My sessions are highly interactive. While I
recognize that individuals must ultimately rely on - and trust -
themselves, I believe they also have a right to
receive honest and empathetic participation from
their therapist. My intention is to be as
respectful, supportive - and direct - as I can be. Rather than simply listening
passively, I will share specific
suggestions and opinions whenever appropriate.
Because therapy is most powerful when individuals
actively
apply what they learn, my clients and I develop
"homework" assignments. This way, what
they achieve during their sessions is demonstrated
in the real world.
To “jump start” the process, I ask
prospective clients to complete a written
assignment prior to, or after our first
session. This introspection and preparation
assists one in becoming clear about intentions,
goals, and expectations.
